Appearance:
(You may link to an image here instead of writing a description.  For OCs, a link to a drawing is fine if you have one but it must either be your own original work or commissioned/gifted work of your own character and not something you found of somebody else's character on Deviantart.)
History:
(You may link to an offsite resource detailing your character's canon history, however we prefer that you also give us a summary in your own words.  If English is not your first language we will be flexible about the summary.   For OCs, please succinctly summarize what your character's life was like before arrival to the Outpost.)
Personality:
(This is the most important part of the app and ultimately determines whether or not your character will fit here.  Give as much detail as possible to show that you really have a handle on the characterYou do not need to provide us a novel if you feel your character can be summed up in two or three paragraphs, but we need more than a couple of lines.)
Powers:
(If applicable.  Your character won't be able to use them from the get-go due to the memory loss, but some powers can be recovered later.  Keep in mind a mod may ask you to nerf this.)

(This can be either in the form of actionspam or prose.  You may use the prompts below, or come up with your own.)

Suggestion prompts:
1) Upon walking into the cafeteria for the first time, your character is hit in the face with a plate of food.  There's a food fight going on!  Does your character jump in on the fun, flee to the safety of his/her dorm, or something else?
2) After having spent a long time at the facility, your character has just recovered enough memory to know that their current romantic partner in the Outpost is actually their worst enemy from before, but s/he has no memory of their rivalry him/herself.  Does your character tell him/her, or keep it a secret in hopes that his/her own memories don't return to keep the peace between each other?
3) Your character wakes up and it's a beautiful day, they're not in trouble, and they have all the resources of the Outpost to pick from.  The pool is looking especially inviting, and over in the courtyard there's a group of fellow patients playing a game of ball. What does your character decide to do?

IC Info
Name: Minamimoto Sho
Canon: The World Ends With You
Canon point: post-canon
Age: 18 going on batshit
Sex/Gender: Male/Genderless
Appearance: A six foot tall Japanese teenager in a nice coat, ragged jeans, boots, and a slightly tattered baseball cap over a red bandanna. He has black "tattoos" on his face that look like whiskers, his left arm has black "tattooing" up to the elbow, his eyes are golden, and he had fangs before he got infected with DOTES. He is usually smiling. His hair is a brownish shade of grey and is a little too long to be short and a little too short to be long. The hand on his left arm is completely black, including the fingernails. There are more "tattoos" covered by his clothing. Minamimoto wears a short-sleeved coat, but no shirt. He has an abstract pendant on a ball-chain necklace and three bracelets on his right wrist.
History: The youngest Game Master in Shibuya, at the age of 18, Sho is the main antagonist of Week 2 in TWEWY. He's addicted to math and math jokes, Joshua calls him a "deranged math fetishist" at one point in the game - and Joshua is TWEWY's god-figure. Sho is an expert leader in all areas except those relating to cooperation, a brilliant tactitian, and mostly damned by not being quite as powerful as he thinks he is. Choosing to go up aginst god probably has something to do with his failure as well. Sho can't resist a math joke, or to use mathematical termenology where it doesn't belong (calling Players "yoctogram" or "factoring hectopascals") and what little verbal coherence he shows seems to be nearly accidental. His plans are spot-on beautiful, but his interpersonal skills are limited to non-existant. He doesn't follow rules well, he doesn't report to his superior when directed, he doesn't follow guidelines worth a damn. His goal in unlife is to kill, and replace, the Composer (Joshusa) although the reason why is never actually stated. After attempting to take Joshua out using a level i flare, both Sho and Joshua disappear. It is later revealed that Sho uses a focus to turn himself into Taboo Noise and Joshua slips into an alternate world. At the end of the game, after a second battle, Minamimoto is seen crushed under a pile of soda machines and a car - however unlike all permanently killed people in TWEWY his body is still present rather than having disappeared.

Thus ends the information actually given on TWEWY wiki or in-game. The following is conjecture and personal fanon. Unlike other Reapers, Sho has portions of black on his skin which are refferred to as "corruption" and after he is killed the first time (by use of the level i flare) the black has spread significantly. Because of that my conjecture is that Sho has died multiple times before and this death, unlife, death thing is something that he's pretty used to. Reapers once were Players. In TWEWY the way for dead people to become Players is to put up "whatever is most important to (you)" as a wager. If you win, you get it back. For the main character this starts with his memories, and in week 2 is his best friend. Considering that Sho, in addition to his corruption, shows yellow eyes, fangs, and small claws I go with the idea that his wager was his humanity; the part of people that allow us to see others as having value. Based on the actions of Players during TWEWY, I also assume that he knows he's missing something, he just can't get it back. This allows me to have him interact with and develop genuine feelings for other characters. Given Sho's unique way of speaking, I also assume that dying and being brought back screw with your head. This is my rational for how to deal with his complete lack of history beyond what happens in the game: he flat out can't remember because his memories don't come back entirely when he does.
Personality: He's a cheerful megalomaniacal sociopathic mathematical genius with psychotic tendencies, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a maths fetish. He's arrogant as hell, and smart enough not to show it most of the time. He'll happily play with people's heads until he's bored and then might or might not hurt them physically...or he'll just drape over them and demand pettings. Basically he was a cat before DOTES.
Powers: Ability to move between phases of reality (neutered - will not be regained), hyperactive healing through absorbtion of negative emotions (Noise), ability to exist exclusively on Noise for great amounts of time, ability to eat regular food forever without gaining so much as an ounce, teleportation (nerfed to within ten feet of himself), ability to throw energy bolts, technically he's dead or undead or reundead or something of the sort so he's really hard to hurt (3141HP) in normal form leading toooo...he's got an alternate form Leo Cantus which he won't be able to do anything with until he's been upgraded which is even tougher (5926HP). He cannot be struck by any attack which is not an area of attack.
DOTES animal: Cat (Oriental Shorthair)
Sample post:
It's an ordinary day in the infirmary closet. The boxes are nicely aligned where they...be...long? Or, no. No they aren't. Sho's tail waves in sinuous curves as he finishes his careful reorganisation of the supply closet; everything is now helpfully arranged by the number of items per unit (1 Ace bandage before 50 count tongue depressor) and within those categories alphabetically by last letter (50 count tongue depressoR before 50 band-aidS).

As is actually ordinary, for Sho, he is cheerfully singing the digits of Pi to the tune of the Irish Washer Woman, he's somewhere around the seventh hundred digit and going strong. All down the hall can be found scenes of his helpful nature: library books reshelved by the hex-colour of the dominant colour on the spine, food arranged into precariously balanced towers of edibles, people's random objects turned into works of what he swears are art.

Yup. Pretty average day.

IC Info
Name: Belphegor of Sloth
Canon: Umineko no Naku Koro Ni
Canon point: During her hallway duel with Rudolf, just before she's shot to death
Age: Nearly 1,000, but physically appears to be 17-18
Sex/Gender: Female

Appearance: Her Model Sheet

History: Belphe makes her first appearance in the Umineko series when Beatrice summons her and her sisters to shame their eldest sister Lucifer and assist her in defeating Kinzo's servant, Kanon. From that point, she and her sisters appear sporadically throughout a series of "witches' games" to carry out Beatrice's orders and assist with the series of bloody sacrifices made of the Ushiromiya family that will bring their master back to full power as a witch and allow her to resurrect.

Belphe's most notable appearance is in the third game, when she and her elder sister, Leviathan, are dispatched by Beatrice's younger successor, Eva-Beatrice, to kill Kyrie and Rudolf Ushiromiya. After getting the upper hand on Rudolf, he appeals to her sense of honesty and honor by asking her to honor his last request for a western-style duel, which he uses as an attempt to shoot Eva-Beatrice while Belphe is otherwise distracted. Unwilling to let harm come to her master, Belphe takes the bullet instead and dies on the floor to the tune of Eva-Beatrice chastising her for being useless for allowing herself to be killed by a human.

After Eva-Beatrice's reign ends, the golden witch's power is transferred to Ange Ushiromiya, the last survivor of the Ushiromiya clan, who re-summons the Stakes of Purgatory as her friends and playmates at an otherwise-lonely boarding school. Upon demanding Belphe and her sisters kill her taunting classmates, the stakes explain to Ange that it isn't within their power to do things that she isn't prepared to do herself. In anger, Ange denies and kills all seven of the Sisters of Purgatory.

It is not until Ange is prepared to face Rokkenjima and unravel the mystery of her family's murder that she finally understands her mistake and resummons the seven, promising never to hurt Belphegor or her sisters in such a way again.

Personality: Belphe is a gentle, work-minded, and serious sort. At a glance, she appears to be a softspoken nurturer who wants to care for those around her, though it's mostly a ruse to hide her patron sin of Sloth. There is no greater joy for her than reducing everyone around her to lazy pigs that are solely dependent on her to provide for them.

In rare cases, she may be cruel enough to abandon those she takes under her wing to wallow helplessly in her sin, but for the mostpart, Belphegor is loyal. Short of severely alienating her, or Beatrice ordering her to, she will not drop those she has deemed "hers".

As someone who was created only to serve, Belphe has a somewhat warped sense of self. She does not believe she is entitled to the same dignities and compassion as human beings are, and gets flustered when treated kindly.

Powers: teleportation, levitation, can transform herself into a sentient, steel stake, can summon a glowing blue locus blade that engulfs her right forearm when summoned and acts as a sword, seems to exude a general aura of relaxation and calm...if you take a nap with her, it would be a lot like sleeping with a great big valium.

DOTES animal: Ragdoll Siamese Cat

Sample post: "This will not get any better for you if you keep avoiding it." It was a perfectly logical statement directed at her patient who had made it clear, under no uncertain terms, that he did not plan to cooperate. She had been doing this job - administering medication to the clinic's inhabitants - for nearly a year now and no matter how gentle she was, or how thoroughly she explained things, there were always the few exceptions who got as far as "needle" and didn't want to hear any more.

As the feline clinging to the dangerously-sagging curtain rod was currently evidence of.

Red eyes remained placid and unimpressed as a span of seconds ticked by in silence, broken only by the scrabble of claws that sought purchase on the metal, and the groan of the rod itself as it threatened to buckle.

"If you cooperate, it will be over with quickly." she offered. "I'll make sure you feel as little as possible." Her response was a sharp hiss from the patient, making her eyes narrow a bit. Belphe did not mind a challenge, but this daily struggle danced on the border of ridiculous.

Another groan from overhead signified that the Researchers would soon be filling an order to replace yet another curtain rod as she folded her arms over her chest, syringe tweezed between her fingers to wait for him to come to her.

He would find she could be very patient...

Name: Bakura Ryou
Canon: Yuugiou (manga, original series)
Canon point: Post series
Age: 17 [to be aged up 1 year]
Sex/Gender: Male
Appearance: http://pics.livejournal.com/shiromadoushi/pic/000019xs
History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu_gi_oh & http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Ryo_Bakura Most of the information on the YGO wiki is just... off and full of fanon. Additional pages (that I’ve written) are at http://kokorononaka.net/Image/Bakura/BakuraYBakura.html & http://www.kokorononaka.net/FAQ/BakuRant1.html

Personality:

The world of Yuugiou is one based on two central concepts: friendship and games. Bakura is someone who loves both things. His intro chapter is even titled “The pretty boy who loves games,” and the first hopeful conversation he has with the rest of the cast is about the game of Monster World, his favorite. Monster World is a TRPG, a table top role-playing game, and a game that has been turned against him by the spirit of the Sennen Ring. While Bakura wants nothing more than to play his favorite game with his friends, every time he has before, his friends fell into comas due to the Ring Spirit's twisted interpretation of Bakura's wish to play games with his friends forever. His desperation and resolve to keep from losing yet more friends pushes him to fight against the Ring spirit and leads to his martyrdom, showing that there is nothing more important to Bakura in the world that his friends, not even his own life.

Though looking at his life, it's really no surprise that he would go that far. His younger sister died as result of a car accident, and though the letter he writes to her asking how their mother is doing, it's apparent that his mother also died. His father, though he owns Domino museum and thus works nearby where Bakura now lives, lives apart from him. Bakura has been alone and isolated, first by death and then by the Ring for a long time, something that shows through his cheerful nature when he speaks of living apart from his family. As much as he wants to reach out and make friends with Yuugi and everyone when he first meets them, he pushes them away to protect them. The uneasy balance of desperation and self sacrifice leaves him seeming almost bipolar at first, going from chatty cheerfulness to depressed quiet. Once the Ring is beaten, the depression seems to vanish, leaving bright cheerful inquisitiveness, balanced with thoughtful pondering and deep worry when things start to look as if they won't go well.

Bakura's cheerful nature for the most part seems to be a mask of who he wants to be. There is a deep insecurity that lurks under it and the need to hide away things that would draw attention to anything wrong. When the Ring starts speaking to him again, even when he's asked if something's wrong, he pushes away the concern, saying it's nothing. He makes a deal with the Ring to save his friends from the trap they've fallen into, putting it back on, even after dying to stop it, then very swiftly seems to forget about it. He always is clueless when he returns to himself after the Ring has taken him over, yet just rolls with it as if nothing had happened. Whether this is by design of the Ring or his own coping mechanisms, or a combination of both is never explored, but it's very clear that he doesn't recall the danger of the Ring, even going as far to wonder aloud why Yuugi would hide it from him.

Escapism is another strong part of who Bakura is, to the point where it interferes with his daily life. When going to join Anzu and the group to watch what's going on in Battle City, he's late to join them because he stayed up finishing an RPG scenario. His character in Monster World is high level, 2 levels under the Dark Lord and is a White Mage, a background character, but one that is supportive and the unsung hero, the one who heals and protects the party while they defeat the Dark Lord. Yet he's also the GM, the one running the scenario and puppeteer the dark forces of the game. When he plays with his friends, he's the one who runs the game, so even when he's playing with them, he's apart from them. In the storyline he fills a similar role, part of the group, but a spectator, giving commentary on the action more than participating in it and when he vanishes, due to the Ring Spirit, Anzu's comment on it is that he's gone “again” implying that he often wanders off.

Despite being friends with the main group, Bakura only appears to really be close to Yuugi. Jounouchi routinely yells at him for worrying or saying the wrong thing, even when it's in defense of his friend, and seems genuinely disturbed at Bakura for having an occult deck. Anzu, despite noticing when Bakura seems off, lets things go when he says “nothing's wrong” even when his face betrays that there is something deeply wrong. She also makes no attempt to go after him when he's wandered off in Battle City, instead running off after Jounouchi. He winds up spending time with Honda on side quests since Honda is similarly left to the side. At the end of the game of Ancient Egypt, when Bakura is unconscious at the other side of the game table, the rest of the group just sits and watches him suspiciously. It's not until the other Yuugi returns that anyone checks on him.

Part of why Bakura so often seems left to the side may have part to do with the fact that he's just a little bit not right, even when the cast is unaware he's wearing the Ring. Having white hair at such a young age stands out even in a world where hair in three colours or a giant spike seems normal. Bakura has an odd personality in his like of the occult, especially with how cheerful he is explaining his deck, which is full of traps, ghouls and nasty tactics fitting a GM. That he shares this deck with the Ring Spirit and that there are many times it's hard to tell which of them is in control also adds a layer of not rightness to his personality, as does the writing to his dead sister and fascination with the Sennen Items. He even asks to keep the replica of the Millennium Eye from Duelist Kingdom, which the Ring Spirit later replaces with the real thing.

Bakura is also the only character in the manga to have come back from the dead. When Yami Yuugi rushes over to him at the end of Monster World, he announces that Bakura is indeed dead, meaning that his spirit had departed when he self destructed the dice holding his soul. It's only because part of his spirit is in his game piece (that sacrifices himself to revive his “master”) that he is able to come back from the dead.

Over all, Bakura is very polite with a playful side. He enjoys playing tricks and harmless pranks whether it be trying to mess with the mime in the park by startling him to helping Mai convince Jounouchi that she hadn't been released from the Penalty Game that had left her comatose.

Sample post:
Dreams were something he never remembered much of. Snipits of voices, snatches of conversation he never could quite hear, a flash of red or gold, the ever present swirling darkness that held him captive in his sleep even as reality reached in its cold unfeeling fingers to haul him back into the light.

He hunched in his shoulders, curling into himself more tightly as he fought against waking. He didn’t want to wake. He was warm and safe in his dark corner, hiding away from the pain. Why couldn’t he stay?

But it was a lost battle, the dull ache that seemed to have sunk into his very bones stripping away the warm darkness until his eyes cracked open, peering blearily at his surroundings. Where....?

He sat up, pulling his legs to his chest, hunching in on himself as he near bristled at the unfamiliar environment. Something was wrong. Something was always wrong when he woke like this, but he couldn’t let it show, he had to--

…to...

There was a very unpleasant sinking sensation, meshed with a small, growing sense of panic.

He couldn’t remember. He couldn’t remember what he was supposed to do or why he was supposed to do it. All there was was a nagging feeling that he shouldn’t show that anything was wrong.

But there was no one else there... or was there...?

Very cautious and timidly, he uncurled doing his best to ignore the ache that every movement agitated. His foot faltered slightly on the cold floor, weak and unsteady as if it hadn’t felt weight in far too long. How long had it been....? His watch was gone, (he had had a watch?) he couldn’t check, even if he recalled what time it had been before.

Another unsteady foot on the floor, pale fingers clinging to the side of the bed as he tried to steady himself. His hair was too long. (How long had it been before?) He could feel it brushing against...

against...

He turned, looking over his shoulder, eyes wide as he spotted the long white, fluffy tail that was up in the air, almost bristling in alarm.

What on Earth had happened....?

Player age: 23
Contact information: AIM is "tinmaiden", and that's probably the best way to reach me! Plurk is LexiL.

IC Info
Name: L Lawliet is his real name, the one that killed him when Rem wrote it in her Death Note. Aliases include Hideki Ryuuga, Rue Ryuzaki, Eraldo Coil, and Deneuve. He has likely used others during his life and career. Since someone actually naming their child after a letter seems unlikely, even in the Death Note universe, where names are notoriously wtf, I write L as having no knowledge or memory of whatever his mother originally called him. His title is such a significant part of his identity that he has become his title, and his real name has changed to reflect that. His surname is his original one, but if someone with Shinigami eyes were to tell him, he wouldn’t recognize it. As far as the Shinigami realm and its denizens are concerned, he is human and therefore has a real name, but as far as L himself is concerned, it is buried to the point where he wouldn’t be able to tell anyone what it was, even if they attempted to employ hypnosis or torture.
Canon: Death Note the anime, simply because it’s the version I am most familiar with and I feel that L’s personality comes across vibrantly and concisely. I also consider the “rain scene” (episode 25) and “The Wammy’s House Lecture” (Re-Light: L’s Successors) really important parts of L’s character, and would have a more difficult time playing him without the depth they give him. Other details that are revealed in the novelizations and supplemental “Volume 13: How to Read” will also be used as canon in addressing things that were not shown in the anime, such as the existence of Beyond Birthday and the assertion in the novelization of “L Change the WorLd” that he has been a detective since he was eight years old. With the exception of his age, I’d like to retain the dates that were used in the manga (putting his death in 2004 rather than 2007) for less confusion among castmates.
Canon point: L would be coming from episode 25, right after his cryptic conversation with Light in the rain. The (in)famous “foot massage” has occurred, and he has announced that he intends to test the notebook to try the validity of the 13-day rule. Watari’s name has been written in Rem’s notebook; L’s has not. One more moment, and it would have been. L is aware that Watari is dead, and he is 85% certain that he would have died had he stayed longer.
Age: L has just turned 24 (his age in the anime is 23-24), but his wide eyes and scrawny build make him look like he could easily pass for someone a few years younger. This was very useful when L posed as a college student to investigate one Light Yagami. His birthday is on October 31.
Sex/Gender: Male, and he does identify as a man(child)!
Appearance: Don't let those eyes fool you, here there be monsters.
History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L_(Death_Note)
Personality: L is the main antagonist (or one of two antiheros) in Death Note. He is the source of conflict for the first two arcs of the story, opposing Light's dream of a united world under the rule of Kira, a self-proclaimed "God" who justifies the mass murder of criminals to create a subjectively perfect world. L is the young, eccentric genius responsible for solving over 1000 of the world's most difficult cases, working as a high-stakes international detective with only one man, Watari, operating as his liaison to the outside world. Given tremendous control over the world's police forces (and usually their unquestioning cooperation), L is known for his arrogance and his tendency to treat his profession as a game, only taking on cases that personally interested him. When the Kira killings (mysterious deaths of criminals caused by unexplained heart attacks) gain national attention, he decides to take the case almost immediately, confident in his ability to trounce any criminal mastermind he resolves to go after. He is continuously both thrilled and discouraged by the fact that, no matter what he does to back Kira into a corner, he is outmaneuvered. His main suspect, Light Yagami, is a brilliant and promising young student and the son of a police chief. Light has gleaming and idealistic visions of a world without murder, but without any concrete evidence, L’s gut feeling isn't enough to convict Light of anything, because the evidence, while compelling and offering a simple, perfect solution, isn’t complete.

During the course of the story, L is forced to reveal himself to Light and work alongside him when a second, copycat killer surfaces, and after imprisonments, countless hours of surveillance through cameras and being handcuffed to L himself, and repeated, blunt accusations, Light manages to kill L by convincing the Shinigami Rem that it is the only way to save the girl she loves. L is technically a part of the story until the bitter end since a "dead man switch" was planned years in advance and his successors took over the case, but as a character, his existence is ended by being just one step behind Light, despite starting with an edge over his younger, less experienced opponent.

L is a confident, morally grey, celibate professional, someone who has achieved much in his short life and never been asked or required to connect with other human beings in meaningful ways. He's grown accustomed to things being easy for him and welcomes the challenge and mental stimulation that comes with the Kira case, because being challenged is, in fact, very rare for him and creates an exhilarating rush that he craves. Being challenged in ways that demand skills aside from the purely analytical, however, put him out of his depth. Socially and emotionally, L is a stunted and strange creature, someone who sees himself as apart from humanity and has difficulty understanding it well enough to approach it and adhere to its conventions.

Very little is known about L in canon outside of his involvement with the Kira case. Contrary to popular opinion and his portrayal in the live action films, he is not fully Japanese; "Word of God" in Death Note Volume 13: How to Read" is that he's a mixture of Russian, English, Japanese, French, and Italian heritage. L is physically unimpressive at 5’10” and a wasted 110 lbs, with a very pale complexion, a spindly frame, and dark, bruised-looking circles under his huge, round eyes. Since he was taken out of his canon near the end of his involvement with the heavily taxing Kira case, he looks especially haggard and gaunt. In addition to appearing chronically sleep-deprived and malnourished, he further neglects his appearance by wearing simple clothes (the same outfit every day) and never bothering to comb his hair. Essentially, he is the stark inversion of the classic anime bishounen. He speaks in a quiet monotone that sounds a great deal like Alessandro Juliani's voice (his English dubbed voice in the anime.) L serves as a foil to Light. They each claim a strong sense of justice and are both arrogant, sociopathic, and opportunistic, but where Light is attractive and socially well-adjusted (on the surface, at least), L is drab, appears frail, and displays neurotic and phobic tendencies. His childish mannerisms, occasional irrational remark (“My reasoning ability would drop by roughly 40% if I didn’t sit like this”) and general disregard for etiquette and his own health and appearance seem to repulse Light over the course of the series, in part because logic dictates that someone like L should be easy to kill and take advantage of, and yet he remains untouchable for the first two thirds of the story, simply because he has more experience, surrounds himself with clever and powerful allies, and is arguably a better planner than Light, at least initially. The other part of this rival aversion, of course, is the simple fact that L reflects Light’s least human tendencies right back at him, in mockery or caricature, reminding him constantly (and annoyingly) that justice and morality, like humanity itself, are ambiguous, relative, and complex.

Based on evidence in the Re-Light specials, as well as in parts of the anime and the novel Another Note and the alternate-continuity novelization of L: Change the WorLd, we can conclude that his career as a detective began when he met Watari at the age of eight. His genius was recognized and nurtured (leaving other faculties like social skills radically underdeveloped), and over the next 16 years he successfully cracked 1000 of the world's most difficult cases, building the reputation and credibility that make things so difficult for Light in “Death Note.” During this time, an orphanage/school called Wammy's House was founded by his mentor for the sake of recreating a genius like L to take his place in the event of death or insanity. The house produced such characters as Beyond Birthday, Mello, Matt, and Near as notable alumni, and many others, all of whom regarded the idea of "being L" as a coveted ideal just within their ability to someday attain. L’s contact with them was limited to conferences on computer screens, in which his face was disguised but he answered questions and delivered lectures and insight. In Death Note: Re-Light II, he is shown giving such a lecture, and is asked by a child if anything scares him. He answers monsters, and goes on to reveal himself, and his eventual undoing, as "lying monsters."

"Lying monsters are a real nuisance. They are much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans, even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat, even thought they've never experienced hunger. They study, even though they have no interest in academics. They seek friendship, even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it. Because in truth... I am that monster."

The lecture hints that L doesn't actually consider himself a human being, but something separate, something he dislikes, something that lies to itself as often as it lies to others. The fact that L pursues Kira, a "lying monster" anyway, knowing that there is a strong possibility it will result in his death, coupled with this inferred recognition and repulsion of himself, implies that he has some self-destructive, addictive, and escapist tendencies. He stays up for nights on end in ways that clearly affect his health and eats unhealthily in increasing amounts (over the course of the series, his appearance gets gaunter as the case wears on, and the quantity of sweets always at his side increases.) He cannibalizes other detectives like Deneuve, Coil, and even Beyond Birthday (who originally used the alias “Rue Ryuzaki”), taking on their names and roles as his own additional identities over the course of his career. Essentially, when he lies, to himself and others, it is an act of self-preservation. L's honesty is as dangerous as it is rare, and in the cryptic but exposed "rain scene" in the anime, he comes to terms both with Light's more solid sense of justice and his own mortality. He recognizes Light's commitment to a cause, commitment that L has always demonstrated but never felt. His own existence seems like a hollow pantomime in comparison to Kira's persistence and passion; L is a savant who has been utilized efficiently, not a fully realized human being who deeply understands his purpose. Near the end of his life is also where L appears to begin coming apart at the seams; whether he's really hearing bells that aren't there, or really reevaluating his own reasons for going after Kira, he is stressed, desperate, and possibly questioning his own sanity after the revelation of real shinigami and magical notebooks that kill people. Things that mess with L's perception of reality mess with L, and he responds by overindulging in sweets (the quantity by his side increases continually as the case wears on), cutting even more sleep (the circles under his eyes get darker and he’s drawn looking gaunter in later episodes), and mentally and physically withdrawing from the situation at hand (his retreat to the rooftop shortly before his death.)

L is not the most patient soul when it comes to the incompetence of others. He can easily spend hours working at one task, no matter how mundane it appears to others, as long as he deems it important. While L is an assertive boss and a controlling manipulator behind a computer screen, he is most comfortable when others control certain aspects of his life, such as his food, travel arrangements, and clothing, and it affects him adversely if people like this are absent. Incidentally, he cares little what others think of him, or how they receive and interpret his words and actions. His moods seem fairly static, ranging from bored to mildly interested, at least on the surface. Despite his affected aloofness, in the rare cases L’s interest is sincerely piqued, he can behave with dynamic unpredictability that serves to catch his enemies unprepared and keep his allies on their toes. His moral compass is famously flawed, and though he opposes the series' protagonist (or other antihero) in Death Note and is on the same side as Light's "good" father, one gets the impression that good, evil, and a "strong sense of justice" are frighteningly ambiguous to L himself despite the pretenses he acts under. He likes games, he likes to win, and if ethics get in the way, he prefers to arrange them like the sugar cubes he enjoys stacking near his keyboard.
dead_black_eyes: "Try Again" (I'm not a stone I'm just a man)

L Lawliet, 2/2

[personal profile] dead_black_eyes 2012-03-27 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
L has many quirks. A few include his compulsive consumption of sweet foods, his tendency to hold things very delicately, and his habit of assuming a crouching pose rather than sitting normally. As a rule, L is often misunderstood due to his underdeveloped social faculties and blunt way of addressing things. Despite seeming to have no sense of humor at first blush, he enjoys clever puns and plays on words, which he tosses off with such a straight face and even tone that they often go unnoticed. For this reason, it's difficult to gauge how often he does this, but he seems to employ them the most often when subtly trolling. After Misa’s proclamation that she “could never live in a world without Light”, for instance, he responds with a deadpan “Yes, that would be dark”, much to Light’s chagrin.

L claims that he is dedicated to the pursuit of justice. The creators of the series have left this mostly up to fan interpretation, but much of what makes him interesting as a character and what makes him an effective foil for Light Yagami is the fact "Justice" as a concept holds little meaning to L. What is explicitly stated in canon is that "L is childish and hates to lose", "L only takes on cases that personally interest him", L is seen by the creators as "slightly evil", "L is exceedingly arrogant," and "L is a liar" (ironically confirmed by L himself with the "lying monsters" lecture analogy in the re-Light specials and the creators in Volume 13: How to Read.)

When L first shows his face to the police officers who will be helping him with his investigation, he reveals that he is “childish.” Though L asserts this himself and it could be therefore considered a lie, especially since it is blunt and contradicts the "arrogance" that others have asserted, it can be supported by the fact that his handler Watari arranges many aspects of his life and his demonstrations that, while he has a cynical and analytical understanding of "human nature", his social skills are abysmal and he probably couldn't get along very well without a support network (something he has in canon continuously from a very early age.) For as commanding and assertive as L can be, he is a dependent character. Furthermore, while L lies a great deal, his self-concept seems consistent with the way others perceive him. Perhaps it’s even harsher. While L admires his own intellect, he has no delusions of being a handsome or socially graceful man; he is painfully aware of his own awkwardness, and doesn’t see it as within his ability to change this about himself. The fact that he knows his strengths and can play to them is highly beneficial to him; he even uses his social awkwardness to his advantage at times, such as allowing himself to be ridiculed for grabbing Misa’s butt, in public, without permission, and in front of her boyfriend, to disguise the fact that he’s actually stolen her cell phone.

The fact that he “hates to lose” is taken to mean that he is dedicated to competition. This doesn't necessarily just mean that he loves to win, though. I think that L would rather be in an eternal stalemate with a worthy opponent (which is essentially his part in Death Note) than have a hollow, if complete, victory like his successor Near's. L's existence can actually be compared with his opposite successors’ to that effect; Mello is L's capricious, risk-taking side who is more obsessed with the process and the glory of the fight, whereas Near is L's more cautious, methodical side who is more concerned with the end result. That being said, it's also worth noting that Mello sacrifices himself knowing that it will help Near solve the case, and L might or might not have accomplished the "dead-man switch" intentionally. Their deaths both moved the investigation forward, but neither L nor his "reckless side" representing his willingness to act lived to see the results of their sacrifices. He and Mello both died young, and Near, the technical Wunderkind, was one of the few major characters to survive past the ending of Death Note.

The statement "L only takes on cases that personally interest him," implies heavily that L does not, in fact, have a strong sense of justice, despite his claims. If he was truly motivated by such a sense, the way Light Yagami is, he would work tirelessly to solve cases that might not be as complex or interesting simply because he desires to see good triumph over evil. A better example of a character motivated completely by a "strong sense of justice" in the series is Teru Mikami, who works as a prosecuting attorney and is hand-picked by Kira to aid in the "judgment and punishment of the wicked". Conversely, L is a detective; it's his job to solve puzzles, not to judge the wicked, and though he claims to "be justice", the methods he uses for choosing his cases spits in the face of this claim.

Though many fans insist that L is the “good guy” in Death Note, the creators of the series do see him as “slightly evil”. L is manipulative, and has used torture in the past to get confessions out of people. He's never employed these methods personally, though, leaving the mechanics to Watari. He isn't noticeably affected by the sight of human beings suffering. It's notable that in the series, L never kills anyone but he interrogates by using torture onscreen. Conversely, Light doesn't torture anyone; the Death Note works quickly and he is not shown to draw out any death (the actual death, not counting gloating and taunting) unnecessarily. It’s unknown whether his lack of a moral compass has more to do with nature or nurture, but it is nevertheless at the core of his character, neatly embodying the series’ entire theme. Morality, like human nature, is volatile, even in individuals who seem largely inhuman.

Powers: Since L has none, I'm going to write a bit about strengths and weaknesses.

L's raw intelligence is his major strength and an integral part of his character; he is extremely sharp, observant, and clever, as well as having a tremendous grasp of deductive reasoning. He is also good at hiding these things. This is described in "Volume 13: How to Read" as having the "powerful ability to act like a fool." L has a very smooth learning curve; he picks up new subject matter and skills as quickly as is believable (in the DN novel "Another Note" he learns Capoeira just by watching a few videos and having a move performed on him) and some things (like languages; he speaks many) even faster. He is ambidextrous and both right and left-brained, allowing him to excel at both analytical and creative endeavors.

L is highly intuitive, so much that his "hunches" often beat proof to the punch, but he always makes sure that he has at least basic evidence before doing something risky in a case. He can usually distance himself from his own emotions during crises or potentially upsetting events (in exchange for having occasional odd reactions like fear, amusement, or melancholy to things that seem inappropriate.) He is good at detecting patterns and likes numbers a great deal. He has a perfect memory, and can speed read several things (such as computer screens) at the same time. He has an analytic understanding of "human nature." (This covers motivation and behavior, rather than a deep understanding of emotion) as well as a great deal of experience as a detective. L is quite good at tennis, and is very flexible. He can also pilot a helicopter.
Character Weaknesses: Though L welcomes challenges with gusto, he responds to futility with depression and losing motivation to work on cases (confirmed in canon by his frank assertion right before his "handcuff fight" with Light. He then spends two entire months being unmotivated and not being of much use to the investigation; LITERALLY, we see a cut from the fight, with the caption “two months later”, and then Light gets a lackluster L’s attention with a new lead after starting his sentence with “Ryuzaki, I know you’re not feeling up to it, but...”)
Emotion is the hardest thing for L to understand, and as a dependent character, when it's the thing that isolates him from people who don't know or have reason to particularly care about his previous life, it threatens his very livelihood. Whether he never had the tools to begin with or lost them along the way, L's not really developed emotionally. He's opportunistic rather than sincerely compassionate, paranoid rather than willing to open up to others, and while he's really good at reading and understanding bad people, the types he's chased and apprehended, kindness and casual interest are not things he encounters on a daily basis. Count on him to misread social cues and general, everyday expressions of emotion. He is neurotic, evidenced by his many eccentric habits, rituals and routines that look a lot like OCD or an autism spectrum disorder.

He is vaguely self-destructive; It's pretty typical of L to talk out one story and act out another one entirely. In the Re-Light special part II, which he narrates, he makes an odd comment about regulating body temperature, saying that turning your thermostat too high is "not good for your health." When it comes right down to it, though, L behaves like someone who is apathetic about taking care of himself. He eats junk food with an addict's devotion, goes nights at a time without sleeping, and does things like stand out in the rain in November wearing only his shirt sleeves. The strongest argument for this is that he chases thrills in the form of cases that can challenge him, seeming to like the rush that comes with being in danger (but not actually confronting that "danger", keeping his face hidden and his name unknown.) While this might be reading too much into these behaviors, I attribute the analysis partly to the possibility that L never expected to live a long life. The "light that burns twice as brightly for half as long," that sort of idea.

L is paranoid, and that’s actually not all bad for him. It's likely saved his neck a few times. But it also makes it really hard for him to accept that people's motives aren't ulterior or sinister. It also prevents him from driving an automobile because he just can't trust other drivers. L is also cynical; he has spent most of his formative years and all of his life chasing twisted people for twisted reasons (for his own entertainment, rather than unshakable morality or a genuine dedication to "justice," though he claims this is his motivation.) Generally, his outlook on humanity isn't particularly optimistic. This feeds his paranoia, warps and biases his view of the world, and makes him difficult to get close to. It’s also another way he serves as a foil for Light; while Light has lofty goals of creating a “perfect world”, L understands that it’s not possible to eradicate crime in a world populated by human beings (who, by their nature, will always have a tendency toward depravity.)

L’s focus is legendary to the point of being considered obsessive. If a case interests him, you can bet that he'll stick with it until the bitter end, even if his entire world is uprooted and he finds himself in the middle of a war. If his suspect is present, his obsession will be. This can be a strength, but it’s probably more of a weakness since it saps energy away from other matters (like eating, sleeping, and bathing.)

L is childish. At a distance, he really does look like a kid. His thumb is often in his mouth, his bad posture is just begging for a matronly woman to straighten it out, that huge piece of cake that an adult would politely decline in favor of a smaller one is held delicately in long fingers. Once one gets nearer, it becomes disturbingly apparent that he's in his twenties, and he's already eaten half of that slice of cake. Going hand in hand with this frailty is the fact that L is not self-sufficient. Speculation on L's early childhood leaves room to guess and add fanon history for just how much he had to fend for himself, as very little is provided in canon regarding L’s past, but after the age of eight, it seems clear that Watari is his caretaker, arranging for food, clothing, and transportation. While L could probably learn how to take care of himself, it wouldn't be an automatic, smooth transition. It wouldn’t be easy for him to adopt a different lifestyle when he's had someone providing basic essentials to him for 16 years.

As far as personal relationships go, they're possible for him, but reliant on an incredible amount of understanding and patience from the other involved person (HINT: he responds well to nurturers or an opportunity for competition.) Despite his childish demeanor, he is well aware of his genius, and feels significantly isolated from the rest of the world. This can create difficulty in interaction with people L believes to be less intelligent than he is; he can come off as rude, arrogant, and insensitive, among other things, meaning that he makes enemies far easier than he makes friends.

L is physically frail; he doesn't move around much in canon, and while he demonstrates occasional agility or endurance (his fight with Light, his ability to stay up and up and up for nights in a row while crouched and balancing in a precarious position), he is a cerebral character who is not meant to take heavy blows or be put in their way. He fights his battles from behind a computer screen. If he does get into a physical scuffle, he could probably hold his own against someone similar to his height and weight, but he'd have a 60% chance of losing that fight. Anyone bigger, and he hopes that he can talk his way out of getting seriously injured.

DOTES animal: Cat, white cornish rex

Sample post: Rain on cold metal links, the sound of bells carried with the November chill to lonely rooftops. L's dreams were like this, lately, giving him occasional snatches of what he once knew. Just enough to tease and torment him, without providing him with what was required to create a full picture of what mattered to him before arriving here.

Light was there, this time. Light extending an invitation to come in from the cold, L's feet remaining rooted to the drenched concrete. Somehow, he knew that to embrace the warmth and safety was to accept his role as a lamb being led to the slaughter.

He startled awake, cold sweat beaded on his brow and between his thin shoulder blades. A hand, heavy with sleep, touched his leg, and he recoiled, even though that hand had stroked his hair and scratched behind his ears just hours earlier. Distant, but indulgent, all the same, little steps to earn scraps of trust.

L rose from the bed, leaving the other sleeper to his own dreams, going to the window and climbing out on the ledge. His balance was exceptional, and he didn't even need to glance at the street below to keep his light steps from faltering. And it was a good thing, too, because balance was the last thing on the young man's mind.

A brunette head leaned out the window, peering out at L, a mixture of concern and suspicion etched into the even, boyish features.

"Ryuzaki? What are you doing out here? You'll catch your death, come back to bed..."

"In a bit, Light. Sorry, I'd... just like to enjoy it for a bit longer."

After his infection of DOTES, Albedo's regeneration was severely destabilized. Seeing that he was dying without the regeneration naturally provided by his body (his health was beyond anemic -- he completely stopped healing at all, with blood refusing to clot and wounds not mending), the staff at the facility saw fit to infuse him with gecko DNA to urge along his body's natural responses to injury. Unfortunately, this backfired in ways they were not expecting due to his status as a URTV.
Personality:
Although Albedo exhibited extreme psychosis in the past, since his death he has become more or less at peace with himself and cleansed of U-DO's contamination of his mind. He's still not perfectly sane, of course, but he does tend to display rather eccentric behavior patterns. He is very predatory and unpredictable, and at the core more animal than man -- a civilized monster, if you will.

Albedo is an intellectual and has an interest in history, culture, philosophical movements, world religions, dead languages, and other such things... he would make a good professor of the humanities for all that he knows, were he not such a sociopath in his waking life. On top of this, Albedo is very curious in general and enjoys learning everything -- learning about those around him to play off their fears, things that make them angry, things that bother them in order to turn that back around on them (in other words: he's a troll who enjoys goading people into reacting negatively towards him because he gets amusement from it), useless skills, pointless trivia, you name it and he's probably devoured a book on it from the facility's library. He's quietly analytical and calculating -- he will listen to your problems, he will tell you what your problems are, but he won't tell you how to fix them. He has an interest in those around him, especially others like him that show a degree of madness or sadism and are able to hold a conversation with him.

The URTV shows a degree of playful confidence, much like the way a cat would play with its food. Harking back to his curiosity about the world, he gets amusement out of poking people and things until he's satisfied (and/or gets bored and walks away) and this extends into his sex life as well -- he loves power games, battles for dominance and submission, and the thrill of exerting his will over someone else (or vice versa!) in the bedroom. He also has a bit of a tendency to claw up the scenery, metaphorically rolling all over your newspaper or jumping up desk demanding attention, and is very grumpy and indignant over any (admittedly brave) displays of affection directed towards him. He's more likely to be attracted to someone who DOESN'T want him around, but gives in to his dubious charms anyway -- he enjoys the challenge.

Although Albedo is hardly monogamous (he'd long given up on the concept of romance as he did not want to open himself up to more heartbreak when he inevitably outlived his partner), he is very clingy and possessive over those he considers 'his.' He gets jealous easily, and when he notices someone he considers a partner giving someone else more attention than he, he gets upset. Really, really upset. Wibbly, angry levels of upset as he begins to yowl for that person to notice him again and remind them that he's still there. And while this can and likely will be offputting to most other people, getting rid of Albedo is like getting rid of a case of herpes and he'll come waltz his way back into that person's life whether he is wanted or not.

In a nutshell: Clingy dude who presents himself more like a cat in a man's body than anything, will probably pee on everything you love now that he's actually turning into a cat. Dear god.
Powers:
Regeneration. When Albedo was created, he was among four variant URTVs with special abilities -- and similar to his twin brother that can control his aging, Albedo was genetically modified for immortality in the form of complete, perfect cell regeneration -- his DNA is encoded with infinite telomeres that do not shorten when the cells split in his body, enabling lost parts to grow back completely. Thus, he is capable of regenerating any limb. This includes his head, as there are multiple instances in canon where he has either ripped off or blown off his head and grew it back within seconds, much to the horror of those present. There has even been an instance where he was shown regenerating from getting blown into mere particles, albeit with the help of the local behind-the-scenes demigod and his Testaments speeding along the process (obviously, he can't get away with that here).

That said, he's still capable of being incapacitated if need be and charring the wound site will slow down his regeneration a little. He can also control his regeneration and when he regenerates, so for example if someone really wanted to amputate all his limbs and have him walk around on his stumps like some terrible puppy for a few hours, they could without worrying about his arms growing back (until he gets bored, of course).

Obviously, as this regenerative ability is biologically encoded into him, he cannot extend his healing to other people, only himself. It should also be noted that to be able to tear himself apart so easily, he is rather physically strong and can exert a good deal of force -- as he was designed to be a genetically-enhanced soldier, he also displays better hand-eye coordination, agility, and strength than the average human.

Also, he had claws long before DOTES hit him.

DOTES animal: White Siamese cat
Sample post:
The tip of his tail twitched with impatience as another firm shake was given to the handle on the door. Still locked, and that's what made him want to stick his nose in the room in the first place. It obviously wasn't a dorm, with its grand double doors carved with stark motifs of eagles and ears of wheat and chipped ribbons garnished in Cyrillic that he couldn't read. The carvings have already been marred by his claws, faces scratched out in irritation and long deep rakes through the fields knifed into the wood many decades ago. While Albedo would normally have an appreciation for the art, it was the desire to simply break into this room at the end of a dusty hallway before the guards took notice of what he was trying to do.

Wheeling back on his large, paw-like feet to the front of the hall, he looks around before sprinting into a charge, crashing shoulderfirst into the seam where the two doors met with a sickening crunch of his bones and shattering of brittle, old wood. He hunches over, hand over throbbing shoulder as it already begins to mend, pushing out any splinters that lodged themselves under his skin as they fell to the threadbare carpet. Ah-ha! He'd forced the door open enough that he could stick his hand in, reach around, and manipulate the lock so he could waltz right in...

...just as a sharp pain suddenly punctured the back of his neck. With his hand stuck between the doors and clenched around the doorknob, he makes attempts to twist the lock before slumping into unconsciousness, resting his head against . Looks like the surveillance team finally caught on to what he was up to.

History: Here and here.
Personality:
Eleven at first glance is quiet, collective and anti-social but she is first and foremost instinctual. She will follow whoever is more dominate then her and would view fights as dominance battles. She views killing and torture as nothing but means to gain and assert dominance over the other person, plus if they died then she will get an easy meal from them. She prefers to observe from a distance rather than to participate in whatever is going on. On the flip side, to those that she has managed to get close to, she can be gentle, protective, loyal, caring and affectionate towards.
Powers: Shape-shifting, telepathy, able to heal herself almost instantly (faster if she eats someone), inhuman strength and inhuman speed.

Sample post:
It has started out to be a completely normal day for her. Well, at least normal for Eleven. How did she even get here in the first place? She stretches herself a little with a small yawn, swaying her tail slowly back and forth. Hnnn, it’s going to be hard keeping it clean. Such a thing to chalk up for worrying about later as she was hungry now and following the scent of food. There, there is the source of the scent. A pale hand reaches out to slowly open the door…..

………

………. Only to be pelted in the face by a random flying piece of food.

Colorless eyes blink in surprise at the sight before her. What? Just what are they doing? Her tail completely fluffs out as another piece of food come flying towards her and she goes to dodge it. No, no thank you. She wants to eat the food, not wear it. Okay, new plan. Getting food later once this chaos has died down, she moves to retreat the food house for now. Though another piece of food hits her on the back of the head…..

…. Or she will just have a proper meal of what she is now currently wearing on her face and hair and just wait until nighttime to eat. Yeah, that seems to be the best plan in this strange place. But for now, time to find a proper perch for her to watch these other creatures without the fear of getting hit again with food.

Name: Hyuga Hinata

Canon: Naruto (anime)

Canon point: post Naruto Shippuden

Age: 18

Sex/Gender: Female

Appearance: Here and Here

History: Hinata is a supporting, and hopeless romance, character in Naruto, She has a crush on the main character, Naruto, and continues to hold it through the whole series, to the point of mortally endangering herself in Naruto Shippuden. That aside she is a member of Team 8, a team of young ninja who specialize in tracking and tailing targets. Her teammates are protective young men (and one nin-dog) who hate her family with a passion and try to help Hinata with her crushing lack of self-esteem. With their support and the 'inspiration' of her hero, Naruto, Hinata practices hard enough to establish her own ninja technique instead of her family jutsu, a factor that does not endear her to her family. She is essentially cast out of the Hyuga household and her position as heir rescinded at the end of the Naruto series.

At the end of the Naruto series, and between the time jump, Hinata is sent into medical nin training, a profession that blends well with her deft ninjutsu techniques, making her an incredibly good field medic and low level surgeon. Team 8 aided in the search for the insane (and possessed) Sasuke, and later they served in the massive battle against the invaders that nearly destroyed Konoha. This is also when Hinata confessed her love to Naruto and sacrificed herself to buy him time.

Thankfully she did not die, but in order to bridge the two year time gap from 16 years old to 18 years old, she took a long time to recover, much like her town itself. This was the second time in her history she was badly injured and both times in order to impress Naruto. It made her seriously rethink her 'love'. Since her recovery, Team 8 has spent most of it's time out in the field, avoiding town and trying to recover, emotionally, from the near destruction of their village. It has drawn the trio together in profound ways, and Hinata's overwhelming crush on Naruto has finally faded.

Personality: Hinata was raised in an incredibly abusive household with high expectations and no tolerance for failure. This created a crippling self-esteem issue that led to stuttering, inability to maintain eye contact, and the desire to avoid confrontation. This didn't help her in her ninja training, and a great deal of her effort was devoted to learning to fight properly despite her issues. She has come a long way since then but she remains soft spoken, prefers to mediate fights instead of confront people, and stutters when overly stressed.

Powers:
*Byukugan = Ability to see in nearly 360 degrees around herself when activated, x-ray vision, ability to see chakra and energy paths in a body. This causes her milky eyes to vein up as well when active (currently inactive, needs to remember how to activate).
*Gentle Fist Technique = Family tajitsu technique, ability to disrupt internal organs and chakra systems without breaking the skin. (currently inactive, needs to remember Byakugan)
*Two step lion technique = Hinata's personal technique relying on flexibility more than flashiness. (currently inactive/subconscious reaction to danger)
*Medical jutsus = The ability to activate and utilize medical jutsus to repair and direct physical damage. This can aid in any damage except broken bones and incredibly damaged organs. (likely to be triggered by need/emergency)
*First Aid techniques = Ability to set bones, stitch wounds, and the like when not able to use medical jutsu. (remembered when necessary)
*Ninja tags and training = Water and wall walking, ability to trigger explosive tags etc. (Subconscious for the walking and leaping techniques, explosive techniques are non-active until circumstance requires).

Sample post:

Hinata ducked when she stepped through the cafeteria door, reflex and instinct moving her before her mind could recognize the projectile coming at her. It didn't save her in the least from the cream pie splatter when it hit the wall, but at least only the back of her head was covered in sticky goo. The feel of the cream slipping through her hair made her ears go flat and her back itch with shivers that could have been hair raising, should she have more hair.

Ew. Ew. Ew. Sticky. Sticky and wet-ish. Eeeeeeeeeeew.

"Ahno...ah...who? AH!" Yes, more ducking. Apparently there was a war going on in the cafeteria. With a bit of scrambling she managed to get behind the kitchen counter, a moment more and she was peeking up over the counter to try to make some sense of the situation. Nope, no sense to be seen there at all. There was only one thing left to do then...

...take the spray hose from the sink and open fire over the counter.
